Service Project – Greater St Louis Honor Flight
If you have never been to a Greater St Louis Honor Flight you are in for a very special and moving celebration of some of this country’s great military Veterans. You can read more about the Honor Flight below.
WHEN: Saturday May 18, 2019
WHERE: St Louis Lambert Airport – Terminal 2 (SWA) – arrive before 6:30pm
Sign-up to attend on the Google form using this link: https://forms.gle/ebGn9TGAkHHX7Qu38
Must sign up before May 3 in order to get into the terminal.
Around 40 scouts will go into the terminal to form a welcome home line with our active military. The rest will help by holding flags at the entrance to the welcome home celebration.
There will be limited number of adults that can go into the terminal with the Scouts (usually 1 adult for every 10 scouts). But, all adults and family members of all ages are welcome to be a part of the welcome celebration in the terminal near the ticket counters.
When you arrive at Terminal 2 proceed to the MAIN UPPER LEVEL and look for the Chapter Chief or Adviser (or the gathering of Arrowmen). Once we are all present, they will escort ~40 of us through Airport Security.
Parking may be a bit challenging. You can park in the Terminal 2/East Terminal (there is a charge). If it is full, please plan accordingly – some volunteers carpool and park at the Parking Spot. Carpooling is encouraged.
Greater St. Louis Honor Flight honors St. Louis area veterans’ service to our country by providing an all-inclusive trip to Washington, DC to visit the memorials built in their honor.
Highlights of our one-day trip include visits to the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and the Vietnam Memorial as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery and the Lincoln Memorial. Everywhere we go, civilians take time to acknowledge and honor the men and women on our trips.

The mission of the Order of the Arrow is to fulfill its purpose as an integral part of the Boy Scouts of America through positive youth leadership under the guidance of selected capable adults. As Scouting’s National Honor Society, our purpose is to:
– Recognize those who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives and through that recognition cause others to conduct themselves in a way that warrants similar recognition.
– Promote camping, responsible outdoor adventure, and environmental stewardship as essential components of every Scout’s experience, in the unit, year-round, and in summer camp.
– Develop leaders with the willingness, character, spirit and ability to advance the activities of their units, our Brotherhood, Scouting, and ultimately our nation.
– Crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.
